The unit rate domestic customers are paying for their energy goes down on October 1st. So if you submit meter readings to your energy supplier (which is anyone without a smart meter who pays by Direct Debit, or on receipt of bill, or your smart meter isn't working), try to take a reading within a few days either side of the rate change - which is Sunday 1st October - in just a couple of days! (if you end up taking the reading after Sunday, most suppliers let you backdate a few days) - this will reduce the risk of your supplier estimating you've used more at the higher rate than you actually have.
